Biometric Identity Checks
The Pensions Payroll Team regularly carry out identity checks for Pensioner members who live overseas.
To help ensure your pension payments remain secure and accurate, we have appointed The Tracing Group to carry out identity checks on our behalf using “Validentity”, a secure biometric verification system.
This replaces the need for most members to complete a paper Certificate of Identity, making the process quicker and more convenient.
A Simple and Convenient Process
Completing your identity check is easy and can be done in just a few minutes using a smartphone or tablet.
You will be guided step-by-step to:
- Upload a photo of your identification document
- Take a quick selfie
Your identity is then securely verified through biometric matching, no printing, signing, or posting required.
Secure and Trusted
The Tracing Group is a trusted and established provider of identity verification services. They use secure systems to protect your information at every stage.
- Your data is handled safely and only used for verification purposes
- Biometric data is deleted once the check is complete
- No personal data or images are stored on your device

Your Choice
While we encourage members to use the faster biometric option, you can still choose to complete a paper Certificate of Identity if you prefer.
