Introducing Goldman Sachs Asset Management

As we mentioned in the October 2025 edition of The Source, Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) took over as the SCPF’s asset manager on 1 October 2025. Here, GSAM introduce themselves and set out their priorities for the year ahead.

We are one of the world’s leading investment managers, with a long history of managing money for pension funds, large organisations and individuals. As part of Goldman Sachs, we bring together deep investment experience, careful risk management and broad market insight. Our team specialises in supporting UK pension schemes like the SCPF, and we are delighted to be supporting the Trustee by investing the assets on your behalf.

As the Fund’s asset manager, we put the Trustee’s agreed strategy into practice – deciding, within the Trustee’s guidelines, how and where the Fund’s money is invested, while carefully managing risk. We work in partnership with the Trustee and closely alongside the Fund’s strategic adviser and Actuary (Aon). Our role includes designing and managing a broad mix of investments, selecting and monitoring the specialist managers who look after parts of the portfolio, and keeping the Fund’s investments aligned with its long-term aim of paying members’ benefits as they fall due.

We also monitor market and economic developments closely, adapting the portfolio where appropriate. The Trustee retains ultimate oversight and shapes the overarching strategy, while we look after the assets day-to-day.

Over the coming year, our priorities for the SCPF include:

  • providing clear, straightforward reporting to the Trustee, so well-informed decisions can continue to be made on your behal
  • strengthening the Fund’s ability to weather market ups and downs by diversifying investments and managing risk with discipline. This year, this has included a thorough review of the Fund’s Property, Real Estate Debt and Hedge Fund allocations
  • improving the Fund’s liquidity, helping to ensure it can meet its obligations smoothly
  • supporting the Trustee’s sustainability objectives

We are committed to managing the Fund’s assets with care and to building a strong, long-term partnership with the Trustee. We look forward to supporting the security of your benefits in the years ahead.
