How do I qualify for serious ill-health commutation?

This is only possible if you have a medical condition where your life expectancy is less than one year. Full supporting medical information must be provided and then if your former Employing Company and the Trustee agree, you can commute in accordance with HMRC rules. If you think you should be considered for serious ill-health commutation, please contact the Pensions Administration Team.

What if I am not expected to die within one year?

In that case, your pension benefits will remain deferred until your Pension Age or earlier date you decide to take them. You cannot take your pension before age 55.

What happens if I die?

If you die after you have left Shell, but before your deferred pension starts being paid, immediate pensions are payable to your Qualifying Spouse and Children.
