What if I become ill?
Your Employing Company has the discretion to grant an immediate ill-health pension if you become ill or incapacitated, subject to supporting and appropriate medical advice being approved. The benefits available will depend on the severity of your illness. In the most serious ill-health cases, it may be possible to exchange all your pension benefits for an immediate one-off lump sum ('serious ill-health commutation').

As a member of the SCPF, your contributions are based on your Pensionable Salary and the Employing Company pays the balance required to secure your benefits.
The main purpose of the SCPF is to provide a pension for members when they retire. You can take your benefits at Pension Age, earlier if you wish, or later if you continue in pensionable employment after Pension Age.
